There’s no hocus-pocus behind Kieran Dixon’s top marks.
Pure hard work and determination is the only secret to the 22-year-old’s success.
Having just completed his BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Acting at Stockton Riverside College, he’s feeling pretty good.
It should come as no surprise considering he walks away, not just with a triple Distinction, but also the grass roots of his own fledgling business.
“I’m now a professional magician/actor,” said Kieran with a befitting flourish.
“If you have an event, I can bring the fun to it.”
With a string of leading performances under his belt, there’s no denying when it comes to his new business, he has the character and the performance skills to pull it off.
Being serious, just for a moment, the former Billingham Campus student, said: “The course had a business element to it, it taught you how to find your own work, get an agent, if you want one, and understanding contracts so that you don’t get messed about.”
Added to that, Kieran also took advantage of Stockton Riverside College’s enterprise programme, an initiative aimed at helping students develop the skills to launch their own business.
“Through that I learnt about things like liability insurance and got a small cash injection to help me buy some kit that I wouldn’t have been able to get by myself.”
Delighted to come away from college not just with the qualifications to launch his future career, but also experience and a good dose of enterprise knowledge, Kieran said: “The course and the College has been really good.
“If you need any help, advice or support then you get it. There’s the chance to get involved in lots of different events and performances.
“If I could put on a fake beard and do it all again, then I would.”
