A career in medicine could be on the prescription for Lewis after he exceeded even his own expectations this results day.

The 18-year-old from Stockton scooped two A grades in Biology and Maths and an A* in Chemistry at Bede Sixth Form.

With an offer to study Biochemistry at Newcastle University, the future is certainly looking bright for Lewis.

He said: "I am over the moon. I didn't think I would get an A in Maths as the exams were very hard.

"When I saw the A grades I thought, wow! I really wanted to get an A* in Chemistry, so I was really happy with that."

With ambitions to one day become a doctor Lewis said Bede has proven a great place for him to study.

It was visiting the college, seeing the labs and having a go at some of the science subjects that helped him to decide that Bede was right for him.

As for choosing to study maths, he said: "It is one of those subjects that I knew I was okay at so I thought I would give it a go."

While he admitted the the wait for results did keep him awake until 2am this morning, he said he felt both relieved and ecstatic with his results. (Well it was mum that said ecstatic, but Lewis agreed.)

Well done Lewis.
