It’s been a great day for SRC Bede Sixth Form student Jack Beckwith.

The 18-year-old from Billingham is off to Oxford University after flying through his A levels with three A*s.

“I think the reality will hit later,” said the former Northfield School student, who admits he was feeling the nerves last night.

“You always come out of an exam thinking that went better in the practise ones, there’s always that doubt in your mind,” he said.

But there was no need to worry as Jack achieved a clean sweep with an A* in biology, an A* in maths and an A* in Physics.

To top it off he also got an A* for his extended project.

“It feels pretty good,” said Jack who now plans to study Biology with the hope of going on to pursue a career in ecology or conservation.
