Students from across all areas of the college have been designing their entries for this year’s Christmas card competition, with Level 3 Fashion & Clothing student, Beatrice Green, claiming first place.
The 18 year old from Eaglescliffe took inspiration from Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Speaking about the design, she said: “I really like the painting so I based it on that. It took me about 3 hours but I enjoyed it.”

Entries included designs from Art & Design and Foundation Skills students, and were judged by a panel of staff from across the college. After much thought, the panel opted for the Christmas scene which featured a Christmas tree and Santa’s sleigh.
Marketing Team Leader, Paul Swalwell, helped organise the competition. He said: “It was really hard to choose, all of the designs were fantastic. After narrowing it down to three, the panel chose this one. It really showed the skills Beatrice has developed and also incorporated Christmas into a familiar scene.”
He continued: “It was great to see so many students get involved. A huge well done to all involved.”
Beatrice won a £20 high street voucher and had her card on sale in college.
