Kind hearted staff at Stockton’s NETA Training have been doing their bit to support the Poppy Appeal.

Inspired by centre support manager Sian Cameron, the team has been giving up their own time to man stalls, deliver and sell poppies. Even the NETA students have been stepping up to offer a helping hand.

Sian, 35, of Wolviston, was this week named one of the Prime Minister’s Points of Light for her dedicated voluntary work as Poppy Appeal organiser for Hartlepool.

Shocked to be put forward for such a prestigious award she said: “It is overwhelming how generous people are during the Poppy Appeal – they would give their last penny for this worthy cause.”

But did you know there are ways you can help The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal all year round?

Here’s five top tips…

1. Wear a poppy all year round

Northern Area Manager for The Royal British Legion said: “People are in need of our support all year round. It isn’t something that just happens at Poppy Appeal time.”

Did you know? The Royal British Legion spends £1.6m a week providing financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British armed forces.

2. Become a volunteer

4. Help spread the word

Share what you know and have learnt about The Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal with friends and family.

5. Buy a gift from the poppy shop
