Securing a place at university is a life dream come true for Seba Taghlubi.

The mum-of-two is off to study Early Childhood Studies at Teesside University after successfully completing an Access course at Stockton Riverside College.

The move is something of a milestone for Seba, who started her studies as an English for Speakers of Other Languages student at the college.

“I am still not quite believing that I have achieved this,” said the 35-year-old.

Hoping to ultimately go on to a career in teaching or support work, Seba said going to university was always her ambition.

The Access to Higher Education Humanities and Social Sciences course at Stockton Riverside College proved just the stepping stone she needed to make her dream a reality.

Inspiring her daughters with her hard work and determination, Seba said: “This access course has been an inspiration for all of my family. My daughters have seen my grades and that has really motivated them to achieve.”

Now quick to recommend the college and the course to others, Seba said: “As an experience it has been excellent. It has improved my confidence and given me a huge boost in my knowledge.

“It taught me how to organise my time between assignments and while it was demanding, in the end I did it!”
