Students have been helping to make a difference in the community, while picking up valuable experience.

The Foundation Skills, Media Pathway saw the learners carrying out voluntary work at the Billingham Foodbank.

Stockton Riverside College students and staff helped the charity's volunteers to move some of their food supplies to a temporary warehouse, while their existing warehouse undergoes refurbishment.

Foundation Skills Lecturer Leanne Nixon said: "It was such positive, experience, a really productive afternoon. The students were so engaged, followed instructions and made such an excellent effort to assist the volunteers as much as possible. The manager Gill Coyle was really appreciative of our input."

The experience provided Foundation Skills students with practical experience and encourage them to reflect on our rights and responsibilities in the community and the importance of being active citizens.

The team are now planning further similar opportunities.

Well done everyone!
