dsc08538A passion for bikes, both the building and the cleaning of them, has proven an inspiration for Alan Duncan.

The 22-year-old from Stockton focused his attention on learning more about his favourite pastime and his dedication paid off by securing a six-week work placement at The Hub in Stockton.

“I really enjoyed it,” said Alan who showed no fear of rolling up his sleeves and mucking in.

For mum Florence, it represented a marked difference in her son, who has autism and ADHD.

She said: “Alan has been much more outgoing and happier in himself.”

Both changes she puts down to studying the Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development course at Stockton Riverside College.

Now planning to continue his studies at the College, Alan hopes to ultimately go on to find work, you guessed it, fixing bikes.
