Shezan KhanHard work and dedication has paid dividends for one Stockton Riverside College student.

Shezan Khan has been named Construction Student of the Month.

Programme Area Lead for Construction, Engineering and Design, John Cartwright said: “Shezan was put forward by his teacher because he is motivated at all times, he often works with a smile on his face and received the top marks possible in all his assessments.”

Presented with a certificate and high street voucher, the 18-year-old from Stockton said: “I felt a little embarrassed to have everyone looking at me but I was quite proud to get Student of the Month, it helps make you feel more confident.”

The former Kings Academy student, who completed his Level 1 at the College last year, said he chose to study Joinery at Stockton Riverside College because he enjoys making things and hopes to progress to either an apprenticeship or Level 3.

Constructing successThe Construction Student of the Month Award recognises students’ achievements across the department, recognising those who show commitment, determination and work hard.

John said: “It is not about being the best in class it is having the right attitude, showing up every day and doing well.”
