Helping people to lead healthy lifestyles has long been a passion for Gary Hamilton.

Now the fitness expert is turning his attention to Billingham after forming a new partnership with the SRC Sports Centre.

Taking the helm at the centre’s gym, Gary said: “We want to reach out to the surrounding community, offering a gym facility that offers the personal touch.”

The aim is to provide a new fitness option to the surrounding community including those who may not have previously considered or felt comfortable using a gym.

dsc00423Launching his own business, Community Leisure Management (CLM), Gary said: “The great thing about the gym at the SRC Sports Centre is that it is less daunting than the large commercial gyms.”

While equipped with everything you would expect from a gym facility, he said: “Its size means that you can offer the personal touch and even deliver something of a bespoke service.”

The bonus of being situated within the sports centre, he said, means that it is surrounded by the many facilities and classes already on offer.

“By tying in with health initiatives we want to encourage people of all ages and abilities to start thinking about their fitness and get into healthy habits.”

With 17 years’ experience working in the industry, including several years delivering services with a local authority, Gary knows what he is talking about.

What’s more the gym will always be staffed by one of his team of personal trainers and will offer great value membership deals, including student, family and over 50s offers.

SRC Sports Centre Manager, Dave Morgan, said: “We are really excited to bring CLM into the centre. This partnership means that we are able to offer a new level of service from our gym.”

Part of Stockton Riverside College and situated on the SRC Bede Sixth Form site off Marsh House Avenue, the sports centre is open to the community on weekday evenings and weekends.

It offers a wide range of fitness and sporting activities both indoor and outdoor, including a four-court sports hall, climbing wall and, new for January, a state-of-the-art flood-lit FIFA1 standard Astro Pitch which will be FA registered.
