Student, James McCabe-Graham has had an amazing morning so far at A level results day – with two A* grades and an A to his name!

James received an A* in maths and chemistry and an A physics, and he couldn’t be happier.

He said: “I couldn’t actually believe it when I opened the envelope, I really did not think I’d see an A* in maths as it’s the hardest to get. So I’m so surprised that I managed to do it and I can’t believe how well I’ve done as I did not expect to, but I’m over the moon.”

Following his amazing achievement, James will be making his way to Newcastle University come September to study a (five year!) chemical engineering course, and he hopes to go on to work with a large chemical company in the future.

Speaking about his time at SRC Bede, James said: “The teachers are the best they’re completely dedicated to you and always have loads of time for you so you get that one-on-one experience you wouldn’t get at a much larger college, and this has been massively beneficial for me. They encourage you to completely commit to your subject to get the best grades possible, and their support has been amazing.”
