Did you catch Carter on The Voice UK last night? He may be out of the competition but the 29-year-old did us and the region proud.

Described by Gavin Rossdale as a "rock tsunami", the Billingham singer performed Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer.



Rocking audiences with his live version of the classic hit, the show's celebrity coaches were brimming with nothing but praise for Performing Arts student Carter.

Will.i.am said: "I can't wait until I'm hearing your songs. Every word you sung tonight I believed."

"You bring all that energy, all that confidence and all that fire."

Gavin said: "I'm just thrilled. It's three for three so far Carter. You take everything on board and you had the measured singing, the really powerful moves and the powerful ending, you can't ask for more."

While Jennifer Hudson said: "You meant every single word of that. What I loved most about it is you can tell you really enjoyed it, you took this moment for what it really is and what it represents. You took your moment and I enjoyed watching you."

Happy to get such amazing feedback, speaking about his own performance Carter said: "It's scary but it's part and parcel. I loved it and hopefully that showed."

A message from Carter on his Twitter account (@Carter643) today said: "Thank you all so much for your support and messages. This may be the end of my time on The Voice but it's just the start of my career."
