Access to Higher Education students kicked off the academic year with a fun challenge that put both their practical and their creative skills to the test.

The teambuilding exercise saw learners work in teams to design, build and then promote a functional balloon chair.
As student teams pitted their wits against one another in the competitive challenge, Stockton Riverside College’s Programme Area Leader for Access to HE said: “The “Balloonite” was aimed at supporting students to work as a team, to engage with others and meet new people.
“Access to HE is not all about academic achievement but also about developing personal and professional skills as team work and communication are essential employability requirements in any workforce.”
With the teams producing some wacky and wonderful results, she said: “The students participated excellently and with a great deal of creativity.”
