Our ever increasing number of aviation high flyers made a return visit to Durham Tees Valley Airport this week to celebrate the college's 8th annual Aviation Awards.

The ceremony recognises the achievements of all of our Aviation students from those just starting out on our courses to those graduating from our foundation degree this summer.
The event also offers the perfect platform for former students, now working in the industry, to drop by and share their experiences.
"Always a highlight of the academic year, our Aviation awards offer the chance to celebrate the achievements of all our students past and present," said course leader Catherine Carney.
"Our students never cease to amaze us. They always go above and beyond what is expected of them, which will undoubtedly serve them well in a career in Aviation."
With former Aviation students working all over the world and for some of the biggest companies in the industry. All are happy to come back to Teesside to share their knowledge.
Among those to fly in for this year's ceremony was Adam White. Working as cabin crew for Jet 2 and hoping to train to be a pilot, he said: "If you get a chance to undertake a course like this before beginning a career in aviation, take it. It has been hugely beneficial for me."
Former Aviation student Cherise Bowes was also there to share her experiences of working as cabin crew with British Airways.
She said: "The course helped prepare me for my career because it is entirely industry related and you learn everything from security to first aid to fire drills, working with industry trained tutors."
Looking back at everything our current students have achieved over the last year FdA Aviation and Tourism lecturer Susannah Mead said: "The students have shown positivity and courage, they have been confident, focused and shown strength of character when participating in professional events."
Every year three special awards are presented to individuals who, for a whole variety of reasons, have excelled in the year. Our award winners for 2017 are:
High Flyer Award - Chloe Flynn
Rising Star Award - Keren Hernandez Marichal
Student of the Year Award - Emily Robinson
Shaun Woods, Durham Tees Valley Airport Manager, said: "Don't give up. Keep doing what you are doing, don't give up on your drive and keep pushing on for what you need to achieve."
