Students have been exploring safety and creating eye-catching posters.
As a part of one of their Health and Safety modules, our Health and Social Care students have been looking into safety in the College and what goes on behind the scenes.
Teacher Janet sent the students off around the college with the aim of identifying any possible risks including potential slip and trip hazards and the fire procedure that the college has in place.
Once students had gathered all of their findings, Janet tasked the students with creating posters. She said: “The group enjoyed researching and identifying all of the ways that Stockton Riverside College keeps them safe and it’s great that they now have a better understanding of the college policies and procedures and the reasons we have them.”
As well as identifying potential hazards, students also paid a visit to our Welfare Team to find out what support is available for everything from mental health and anxiety to help stopping smoking.
Janet said: “I felt this was an important part of the course and wanted to help the students to realise they are safe in their learning environment through the different processes we have to keep them safe physically and emotionally and how because of this, they can concentrate on learning, making relationships and memories, that will help them progress happily through the full college experience. I am extremely proud of them and hope their project can help other students see Stockton Riverside College is a safe place to be.”
