Ellie, 18, is about to start her next chapter – a combined course in English Language and Literature at Newcastle University, after achieving a B in English Language, and C’s in English Literature and Chemistry.

She previously had thought about going into medicine, but the former Grangefield Academy student couldn’t ignore that she has always had an interest in English and now plans to go on to be an English teacher.

Speaking of her time at SRC Bede, she said: “I chose to come to Bede so that I went to a different place to most of my friends at the time. I wanted the chance to make my own decisions without any influence from what my friends were doing, and it gave me the opportunity to get to know myself better. I’ve met so many lovely new people during my time here, and it’s a really nice environment.”
