Stockton Riverside College is among the top performing FE colleges when it comes to student satisfaction, a national survey shows.
Results of the National Student Survey (NSS) revealed that nationally 86% of Higher Education students in the UK are satisfied with their course, while Stockton Riverside College was one of just eight FE colleges to achieve an impressive 100% taught satisfaction rate.
Rebecca Wolfe, the College’s Head of Department for Higher Education, said: “We are the only college in the region to achieve 100% satisfaction, up from 90% last year. The national average for colleges that deliver Higher Education was 80%.”
The NSS is an annual survey of all final year undergraduate degree students at institutions in the UK. This year more than 350 HE institutions and FE colleges took part, with over 300,000 students polled.

“I am really pleased for all of the teams,” said Head of Department, Rebecca. “The fact that we have recently increased our HE offer and had an 82% response rate to the survey and still achieved 100% satisfaction is a massive achievement.
“It shows how HE is improving at the College and the results are a direct reflection of the hard work that has been put in and our continued focus on HE provision.”
Of the College’s success BA Education and Training (Supporting Teaching and Learning) student, Rita Richardson, said: “The fact that the College achieved a 100% satisfaction rate comes as no surprise at all to me. The staff are amazing, everyone is approachable and it is a great place to learn.”
As a teaching assistant with 17 years' experience the 47-year-old from Guisborough admits she was initially anxious about returning to the classroom as a student herself. But she said: “I knew that I needed to learn all the latest methods to keep my knowledge up to date.”
Starting out on the FdA Supporting Teaching and Learning course, Rita never expected to progress to the BA hons top-up year, however, she said: “It has been fantastic, I met a lovely group of friends and that encouraged me to keep going.”
