List your course(s) undertaken here at SRC (previously SBC/SBT).

BTEC in Performing Arts (Theatre)

When were you a student here at SRC?
2008-2010

What do you remember from your time here at SRC?
Lots of amazing opportunities to perform, learning from fantastic lecturers and I made some friends for life!

What shows were you in and what parts did you play?
I played Sharpay in High School Musical and Charity in Sweet Charity which is still, to this day, one of my favourite parts I’ve ever been lucky enough to perform!

Where else have you studied after your time at SRC?
I went on to study a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre at Arts Educational Schools London.

What was your first professional job and where?
During my time at SRC, I played Tigerlily in Peter Pan at Sunderland Empire. Post ArtsEd, I played Ali in Mamma Mia! London (Novello Theatre).

Where else have you undertaken roles within the performing arts industry?
Professionally, I have covered and played Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music UK Tour and I’m currently playing Factory Girl/Cover Fantine in Les Misérables International Tour (Manila and Singapore).
During ‘funemployment’, as I like to call it, I’ve stage managed and worked followspot on a couple of SRC’s past Christmas shows!

Are you involved with any other performing arts organisations and where? (e.g. theatre schools, clubs etc.)
I have a major love, as past alumni, for Middlesbrough Youth Theatre. I grew up there and truly believe that’s where I got the confidence to take my love for theatre further! If I’m ever in Middlesbrough when they have a show, I’ll always go along and watch.
Whilst working on Les Mis over in Manila, Philippines, I visited a terrific foundation for street children called Tuloy Foundation. They focus on performing arts and I was blown away by their passion and talent. I keep in touch with the staff and I’m hoping to contribute to some fundraising events, when I’m back in London, with a friend of mine who does a lot of work for them!

What was your favourite professional job?
This is a tough one, I’ve really enjoyed all of them so far as they’ve all been completely different! Getting a West End contract was pretty special, I never ever thought I’d get to play Maria in The Sound of Music and Fantine in Les Misérables has always been a huge dream role of mine, so to have the opportunity to play her on a few occasions has been incredible. I’ve been very fortunate to work contracts that I’ve loved so much and each contract has been logistically and artistically different!

List your industry experience and roles you’ve undertaken. This may include any teaching or technical-theatre work etc.
Before graduating from ArtsEd, I made my professional debut in Panto at the Sunderland Empire, playing Tigerlily! I then appeared on BBC1’s ‘Over the Rainbow’, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s TV search for a Dorothy, for his production of The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium.
Since graduating in 2013: Snow White in pantomime at Middlesbrough Theatre with Extravaganza Productions, Ali in Mamma Mia! London (Novello Theatre), Tess in Tess of the D’Urbervilles (New Wimbledon Studio), Baroness Elberfeld/Cover Maria in The Sound of Music (UK Tour) and Factory Girl/Cover Fantine in Les Misérables (International Tour).
