Introduction

*This course is subject to approval by Teesside University. The Cert HE in Musical Theatre is the first year of the foundation degree. On this level 4 course, students will develop skills in jazz, ballet, acting through song, acting for camera and contextual studies, as well as becoming part of the SRCMTEnsemble, taking part in 2 performances across the course of the year, ending with a spectacular musical as part of the HEFest. You will learn to develop performance skills alongside growing your creative practice and taking on a production role within the SRCMTEnsemble. The programme has a 80/20 practical/ academic ratio. This course, developed in partnership with Teesside University, will utilise local theatres including the Arc in Stockton, the Forum in Billingham and the Town Hall in Middlesbrough.

How will I learn

You will study the arts in a range of ways including practical workshops, lectures, seminars and tutorials. Tutorials help you to discover and develop your personal aptitude for your chosen career path.

What's next

You can progress onto the second year of our FdA Musical Theatre course to achieve a foundation degree, or alternatively you can apply for a programme at another university, drama school or conservatoire.

Additional Information

You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including essays, reports, presentations and performance observations. Each assessment is carefully designed to give you the necessary tools to succeed.
