Introduction

The Level 2 Certificate is a natural progression from the Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care sector. Learners who are interested in, or are new to working in adult social care will find this their next challenge, to expand their knowledge and skills whilst still looking for/or are new to working in the sector.

What will I learn

Students must complete 9 mandatory units to complete the certificate. These are: • Principles of communication in adult social care settings • Principles of personal development in adult social care settings • Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s setting • Understand the role of the social care working • Understand the person centred approaches in adult social care setting • Understand health and safety in social care settings • Understand how to handle information in social setting

How will I learn

Students will attend SRC for 1 full day per week to gain the knowledge from the workshop sessions. Students will have the use of virtual learning environment to access resources, and complete online tasks

What's next

The Level 2 Certificate covers most of the Level 2 Diploma’s mandatory units. Therefore the certificate may be used as RPL (recognition of prior learning and will cross into the Level 2 Diploma).
