Over the duration of two years you will be introduced to the exciting world of audio engineering and production, developing the necessary skills to be able to operate our state-of-the-art recording studio.

As a Music Tech student you’ll cover many aspects of the recording and sound industry, learning classic and modern sound recording techniques, recording your own songs and sounds, and improving your listening skills. You’ll record musicians, bands and soloists, and develop your own skills as an engineer.

Over the duration of two years you will be introduced to the exciting world of audio engineering and production, developing the necessary skills to be able to operate our state-of-the-art recording studio.

The course is assessed through a combination of coursework and controlled practical assessment. There are a total of five units completed across the two years, with one unit externally assessed via controlled assessment.

We will provide you with all required equipment, but most students find it useful to have their own good quality pair of headphones (closed back) and their own portable hard drive.

Students studying Music Technology have progressed onto University study at institutions around the country, including the prestigious SAE in London, Liverpool and Glasgow.

Our Music Technologists have gone on to work in prestigious companies such as EA Games, Rough Trade, and Beggar’s Banquet Records. Former students have also found success in bands and as solo artists.

  • Music Technology has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ within the college for a decade due to continual high grades, high success rates and the 100% pass rate.
  • Our former students have had the opportunity to work with signed bands on projects including music videos and album releases as well as TV and film soundtracks for major companies, such as the BBC, ITV and Sky.
