Diploma in Hairdressing Level 2
We all want to look out best and as a hair stylist or barber you can help people to do just that. Our hairdressing courses will give you the skills you need to get started. Add to that your own passion and ambition and you could go on to work as a mobile hair stylist, run your own business or work in a salon.
Attendance: Full-time (16-18) Part-time (19+)
Duration: One year

What will you do?
You will learn skills including styling, blow drying, setting, colouring and cutting hair with techniques becoming more advanced as you progress. You will also learn about health and safety, customer service and reception and we will help you build the confidence to offer client consultations.
How will I learn?
Lessons include a combination of practical demonstrations, practice, theory and e-learning. You are continually assessed throughout the course by building your e-portfolio of work, which contains your evidence of your competence in each of the technical and related skills.
NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing Level 1 or three GCSEs grade 4/C GCSE or be 19+.
Why Maths and English matter…
As a barber or stylist you will need to work out hair colour ratios, follow instructions, order stock, calculate timings for appointments and treatments and handle cash.
You could go on to the NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing Level 3.
What else do I need to know?
You will be required to attend classes in full college uniform. You will be required to bring your kit to practical sessions. Functional Skills/GCSE attendance is compulsory unless you have grade 4/C in maths and English.

You will need to purchase a tunic and your personal hairdressing equipment. The costs of these items will be discussed with you prior to enrolment.
