Understanding Autism Level 2
This qualification aims to develop learners’ understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism – covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour, and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.
What will you do?
The course is made up of a series of modules which form 2 workbooks of study.
Introduction to autism
Using a person-centred approach to support individuals with autism
Communication and social interaction in individuals with autism
Sensory processing, perception and cognition
How will you learn?
Two module text books are provided with all learning materials included for your directed study.
How are you assessed?
Assessment involves a two work booklets which are completed as distance learning and submitted to the college.
A willingness to learn and a keen interest in learning more about the autism spectrum and ways to effective support individuals and key others.
What do you need to know?
There are no formal entry requirements as all learning materials are provided.
This qualification is awarded by NCFE
Upon completion of the course, students can apply for other distance learning programmes, use as APL for QCF qualifications where appropriate and use their newly acquired knowledge in practice.
