This qualification aims to:

  • provide an understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur
  • develop awareness of how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes
  • develop understanding of diabetes diagnosis and initial care
  • develop understanding of ongoing care and treatment of diabetes to control blood sugar levels.

What will you do?
The course is focused on delivering high quality information via distance learning.

  • Unit 01 Understand diabetes
  • Unit 02 Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
  • Unit 03 Understand the initial care of diabetes
  • Unit 04 Understand the treatment and management of diabetes

How will you learn?
Two module text books will be provided with all learning materials included for your directed study.

How are you assessed?
Assessment involves 2 work booklets which are completed as distance learning and submitted to the college.

There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification. This qualification is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a more in-depth understanding of diabetes.

What do you need to know?
There are no formal entry requirements as all learning materials are provided.

This qualification is awarded by Cache.

What’s next?
Upon completion of the course, students can apply for other distance learning programmes, use as APL for QCF qualifications where appropriate and use their newly acquired knowledge in practice.
