Performing Arts BTEC

BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Performing Arts 

This course will enable you to critically analyse the work of performing arts practitioners, develop performance skills and techniques for live shows, develop skills needed to run a community performance, understand target audiences for commissioned work and learn how to put together a promotional portfolio. It is a highly practical course that allows you to explore the roles and skills of performers.

How will I learn?

You will learn through a combination of practical hands on experience creating performance material for community performances and group work, and through close analysis of real world case studies focusing on contextual factors, creative intentions and the nature of commission work.

What’s next?

Choosing Performing Arts could lead to a range of exciting opportunities. You could go on to be an actor, dancer, theatre, director, broadcast presenter, choreographer, set designer, or even a performing arts teacher.

You need:

Five GCSEs grade 9-4/A*-C including English, maths and drama is preferable.

What else do you need to know?

In addition to developing your abilities as an actor, you will also have the opportunity to improve your dance, vocal, singing vocal and personal management skills. You will have access to industry standard camera and editing equipment, as well as freedom to use our state-of-the-art recording studio.

How am I assessed?

The new BTEC Nationals in Performing Arts use a combination of assessment styles to give students to study skills needed to conitnue their learning and also the confidence to apply their knowledge in the workplace.

Assessments include tasks and performances.
