Here at Stockton Riverside College we’ll help you develop these crucial skills to forge a bright career in the childcare industry.

What will I learn

You will develop the skills needed to work with babies and young children through a combination of theory and practical sessions. Covering subjects including development, safeguarding, health and safety and organising activities, you will understand how children develop and learn effective techniques for interacting with young children. You’ll also get the chance to apply what you have learnt on a work placement of 750 hours minimum in both day nurseries and school settings.

How will I learn

The qualification is delivered through a range of both taught and practical sessions, enabling learners to obtain the skills required to work with young children. This qualification incorporates mandatory placement (minimum 250 hours) to gain practical experience of working with young children.

Additional Information

Alongside this qualification learners may need to attend functional skills or GCSE maths and English to support their further development in these areas, if you don’t already have an English and maths GCSE grade 9-4/A*-C. This will be discussed with you at interview.
