Introduction

The Access to Higher Education in Health Diploma is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. If you would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, then an Access to HE course could be for you. There is no upper-age limit for Access to HE courses. Courses are part time and students complete the course in one year Access day classes are currently over two days per week with one recommended home study day; this course also currently runs an evening provision, which is currently two evenings a week

What will I learn

The diploma is made up of a series of level 2 and level 3 units which are individually graded. Subjects will include Level 2 English Skills for Higher Education and Maths. The graded level 3 units include: > Health Promotion > Human Biology > Professional Skills in Healthcare > Contemporary Care Practice > Human Biology: Health and Illness > A Health and Care Research Project

How will I learn

Class sessions which involve lectures and demonstrations as well as interactive learning using IT and Teams. Learners are supported and encouraged to develop independent learning techniques.

What's next

On successful completion of the access diploma learners can apply to university for a place on a range of health-related degrees or other higher education degree programmes. These include nursing, operating department practitioner, occupational therapy, dental nurse and physiotherapist. continue your studies with us on the Cert HE Health and Social Care course.

Additional Information

Access to HE can be fully funded with a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan (conditions apply). Your 19+ Advanced Learner Loan will be written off if you successfully progress onto University and complete your course. If you are aged 19 to 23 you may be entitled to full funding of your course if you have not already achieved a full Level 3 qualification.
