SRC Bede Sixth Form students have started an exciting new programme in partnership with Durham University.

The programme, called the TASS Potential Project, is designed to offer support to young athletes aged 16 and over, to help them keep up their academic studies alongside their sport commitments. Many students feel that they have to choose between the two, and the TASS scheme aims to prevent that.

This programme is part of the wider offering that TASS (the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) provides across the UK as a Sport England funded partnership, supporting over 6,500 athletes over the past 15 years. The Potential Project was first run at Durham University last year, and as one of only three TASS-accredited sites in the north east they remain the only centre in the area to offer the programme.

Once the students have attended all of these workshops, the TASS facilitators will be coming to SRC Bede to deliver six bespoke strength and conditioning sessions.

We look forward to seeing how our students benefit from the TASS Potential Project and continuing to work with Durham University.
