There's double reason to celebrate in the Oliver household.

Not only has Amy achieved her Level 3 in Childcare but mum Christine picked up her own Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

Starting work as a teaching assistant at a primary school in September, she said: "I am buzzing, I can't believe it. I actually feel quite emotional."

Having previously worked in retail, Christine decided to take a change in career direction and enrolled on the Level 2 course at Stockton Riverside College.

She quickly secured work as one-to-one support in a school, after impressing bosses on a work placement.

Moving on to the Level 3, her new career has continued to go from strength to strength.

Christine said studying alongside her daughter has been a source of inspiration and support.

"We were studying different subjects so didn't really see each other around college but it has been good to be able to support each other.

"We could sit together at the table on a night doing college work."

Impressed by her college experience, the mum-of-two said: "I have made lots of new friends and it is nice to talk people in the same boat as you. And the college is relaxed and friendly."
