It’s official, when it comes to giving students a step-up into Higher Education (HE) Stockton Riverside College has been recognised as pure quality.

DSC04319 copyThe college’s Access to Higher Education team has been named winner of the One Awards’ Outstanding Commitment to Quality Improvement title.

Fending off competition from education providers across the country, Stockton Riverside College’s Programme Area Leader for Access to HE, Andrea Harrison, said: “This award is recognition of all the team’s hard work.”

She said: “Quality can only come about if everyone works together and strives towards the same goals.”

Previously known as TROCN and OCN North East Region, One Awards is an Access validating agency offering Access to Higher Education Diplomas, accreditation services and training to learning providers across the UK.

The prestigious awards ceremony, which recognised the achievements and hard work of education providers, as well as individual teachers and students, was set up to celebrate the validating agency’s 20th anniversary.

DSC04330 copyAlso nominated for awards were Stockton Riverside College’s Course Leader in Health, Liz Shipley, who received mention in the Tutor Support category and former Access to HE Health students Sally Skidmore-West and Arron Jameson.

OneAwardsNominating the students Andrea said: “They are excellent students with positive attitudes to learning and getting involved in real working environments. They have a spent a significant amount of time in placements and have benefited from developing a superb relationship with employers.

She added: “We wish them all the best in their future and hope that they are proud of their nomination for the One Award. They certainly deserve it.”

Both students have now progressed to the Certificate in Higher Education Social Care.
