Assist Women's Network

Food lovers with a good head for business are in for a treat this Global Entrepreneurship Week, as business women from across the Tees Valley are invited to mark the event by getting together in a one-off festival of food.

The event has been organised by the Assist Women’s Network, offering an opportunity for women in enterprise to link up to be inspired, share knowledge and expertise.

Assist's Chair Ann Stonehouse said: “Our aim is to bring together like-minded business women to share ideas and inspiration. What better way to bring people together this Global Entrepreneurship Week than over a shared love of food?”

Global Entrepreneurship Week, which runs from November 16-22, is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship. Each year it plays a key role in encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs to consider starting up their own business.

Last year more than 500 organisations in the UK hosted around 2500 GEW events, reaching more than 34,000 budding entrepreneurs across the country.

This year Teesside-based women’s network Assist will be among those bringing the global celebration to the Tees Valley with their Dynamix – Fired by Food festival, taking place on Wednesday 18th November at Stockton Riverside College.

“Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great event to get involved in as it raises the profile of enterprise at a global level,” said Assist Chair, Ann. “Every year we mark it with a themed networking event.”

Having chosen food as their theme this year’s free event will offer a taste of life in the food industries through a range of inspirational talks and demonstrations, along with a selection of stalls from some of the Tees Valley’s independent foodies.

Catering students from Stockton Riverside College will also take part in their own cooking challenge with the opportunity for visitors to taste the final dishes.

“It promises to be a wonderful event and we are really looking forward to it,” said Ann.

The Dynamix – Fired by Food takes place at Stockton Riverside College on Wednesday 18th November from 8.45am. For more details or to book your place visit www.assistwomensnetwork.co.uk or book here.
