Introduction to Health and Social Care
Do you know that there are hundreds of jobs in the care sector in the local region?
Why would I join this course?
If you have been unemployed for 6 – 12 months and in receipt of JSA this course will give you a good idea about what it is like working in the Health & Social Care sector with a qualification to enable you to secure employment.
What would I be doing?
This course lasts for 8 weeks and each week is divided up as follows:
- Week 1 – Job roles in the Health & Social Care Sector
- Week 2 – Core Care Values
- Week 3 – Communication
- Week 4 – Risk assessment, health & safety, fire safety, infection control and personal security.
- Week 5 – Moving and handling patients and dealing with challenging behaviour
- Week 6 – Abuse and whistle-blowing
- Week 7 – Equality, Diversity and Rights
- Week 8 – First Aid
Will this programme provide me with a qualification?
You will receive a great start in learning about this sector and will be able to carry on and complete a full NVQ Level 2 once you have gained employment.
What are the added benefits?
We will support and work with into finding employment in the Care sector, including CVs, application forms and interview technique. As a College we work with a wide range of Care Sector employers so can help you find the job you really want to do!
How long does it take?
- 8 weeks, 3 days a week (15 hours in total)
- 09:15am to 3:00pm - Monday,Wednesday and Friday
