Managing Medication Systems – University Certificate in Continuing Education (UCCE) – Level 5

Course Information

For people who are responsible for overseeing the process involved in the management and administration of medication.

Learning Outcomes

Critically analyse current medication policies and procedures
Demonstrate detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and guidelines regarding medication administration
Identify key problematic areas in relation to medication management and identify appropriate tools/methods for their resolution
Develop audit tools based upon your understanding of key problems with medication administration
Provide arguments to support the use of audit tools developed
Ensure all actions are ethically sound and take account of the diverse needs of service users.

How you are assessed

Assignment 1 consists of a critical analysis of the student’s current workplace medication policy (2,500)
Assignment 2 requires the student to develop and present a medication audit policy/tool (1,500 words)

Students must achieve a pass grade for both assignments.

Entry Requirements

Currently working in an organisation that has a medication policy.

A minimum level 3 qualification in a related subject area.

All applicants will be interviewed.
