What is Pride @ SRC?

After years of requests it was agreed that the people (staff and students) from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community had a right to be represented within the college environment.

In other words... this helped us to feel that it was OK to be gay!

Pride @ SRC began in February 2007. Membership just means coming along. It is a place just 'to be you'. You don't have to be gay to be here and if you are you don't have to say. If you do want to 'come out' or just chat and meet others, we can support you.

What Pride @ SRC do for you as students

"When I first came to the college I wasn't out as gay. Group helped me come out and I found myself. I'm happy we have a group within the college."

"I like the college because it has a group for me to meet new people."

"I enjoy coming to this college because the group makes me feel safe."

"I like the group because I can talk to others and know that it won't go any further."

"It's good because even if you don't want to come it makes you feel welcome in the college just by being there."
