Minutes

The Corporation is the governing body of the college and aims to be open about its work. The minutes of meetings on these pages are a record of business it has conducted and decisions taken.

Corporation
The Governing Body of Stockton Riverside College is the ‘Corporation’ and it has 18 governor members.  It usually meets 6 times each year and in between meetings of the full Corporation a number of committee meetings take place, where business can be discussed in more detail.  The Corporation has given powers to committees to make decisions on its behalf, but there are some decisions which can only be made by the full Corporation.

Audit Committee
Audit Committee receives reports from independent auditors who make checks on the college’s business systems to assess whether the college’s systems of internal control are working properly.  Auditors also examine the college’s annual financial statements.  When auditors make recommendations the committee monitors the implementation of the actions needed.  The committee also monitors the way in which the college manages risk and how it ensures it is getting value for money.

Curriculum Standards Committee
The committee is concerned with ensuring that college services in relation to the curriculum are of high quality and it monitors and reviews the college’s quality assurance processes.   It receives a wide range of information that helps it to carry out this function which it examines against national benchmarks, including recruitment, retention and achievement statistics and results of learner surveys.  It reviews the college’s annual Self Assessment report.

Finance & Employment Committee
This committee monitors the college’s finances and receives regular reports so that it is aware of the college’s financial position.  It makes recommendations to the Corporation about financial matters such as setting the budget and the annual financial report.  It makes recommendations on the framework for pay and conditions of service for all members of staff and determines the pay and conditions of the college’s senior postholders.  It also determines personnel and human resource policies.

Infrastructure Committee
This committee is involved with the college’s plans for the continued development of its infrastructure and considers property related developments, assisting the college to prioritise and implement its plans.  The committee monitors the progress of major college property and infrastructure developments against agreed outputs.

Search Committee
Search Committee advises the Corporation on the appointment and re-appointment of members of the Corporation, taking into account the need for a range of skills and backgrounds to be represented.

Remuneration Committee
(Minutes of this committee are confidential as they include details of individuals' salaries).
Remuneration Committee advises Finance and Employment Committee on the job description, remuneration and conditions of service of the holders of senior posts and the clerk to the corporation.
