Governing Body
Stockton Riverside College aspires to be a college of excellence providing pathways to work, enterprise and higher education. We strive to provide an excellent standard of education, training and support for all of our students in order to prepare them well for the exciting futures that lie ahead in higher education and employment.
The college was last inspected in May 2006 and the inspection report highlights many strengths; the governing body was particularly pleased that leadership and governance of the college was judged to be outstanding. The college’s merger with Bede College, Billingham, in May 2008 and associated building programme has been a major development, achieved with the enthusiastic support and involvement of the governing body. This has enabled us to offer a comprehensive academic curriculum alongside our vocational provision. We will continue to work to further improve the college's academic achievements and the facilities and services it offers to learners from the Tees Valley and beyond.
The college’s excellent accommodation and learning resources are being further extended at the Teesdale site and the old buildings at the Billingham site are being replaced with a new college and sports centre, including a state of the art artificial pitch, unique in the area. These new facilities will be operational for the academic year 2009-10 and will enable us to develop our sports education programmes. We also work in the community, delivering courses in employers’ premises and at many outreach sites.
