Sport - The Diploma
Advanced Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure
The course consists of a number of elements including Principal Learning, Additional Specialist Learning, Extended Project, Functional Skills and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
How is the course organised?
For the Principal learning you will study eight units over two years, you will have the opportunity to opt for additions specialist qualifications which may include coaching qualifications, outdoor education or possible A level. The extended project is an activity which focuses on a particular topic and a project created. In addition to the previous learning you will also undertake functional skills and Personal learning and thinking skills.
What are the entry requirements?
4 GCSE at grade C or above including English and Maths
What subjects will I study?
As above you will also undertake additional qualifications as part of the Diploma
How is the course assessed?
Assessment will take the form of assignments internally and externally assessed, depending on additional qualifications there may be an exam relating to the specific additional qualification.
What can I expect to achieve?
On successful completion of the course you will achieve an advanced Diploma in Sport and active leisure equivalent of 3.5 A levels. In addition you may achieve coaching qualifications.
What can I do afterwards?
On successful completion of the programme you may wish to progress to university on a variety of pathways or progress directly into industry.
What else do I need to know?
Sports uniform is required for the course. Entry to the course is by interview. There is no closing date for applications but early application is recommended.

Upon receipt of your application you will be invited to attend an Interview at the SRC BEDE campus in Billingham were the course will be delivered.
