BTEC National Diploma in Sport - Performance and Excellence (Level 3)
This programme focuses on performance within a range of sports, with the opportunity to focus on areas of interest. You will participate in both theory and practical sessions covering a range of topics and different activities. You may be involved in coaching, fitness instruction and fitness testing, as well as learning about how to analyse other athletes’ performance levels. This programme is equivalent to studying 3 A levels and is studied full time.
Entry Requirements
4 A*-C grades at GCSE or an appropriate Level 2 qualification. You should also have a keen interest in practical aspects of sport and exercise.

You will also develop your key skills in the areas of communication, application of number, information technology and improving own learning and performance. All units are assessed internally through presentations, practical activities, assignments and group work.
As well as studying on this course you may wish to participate in recreational or competitive sport as part of the college's enrichment programme.
Progression
On completion of this course you will be able to progress to higher education on a Level 4
programme or enter the Leisure, Sport and Coaching Industry.
In addition to the course, learners may have the opportunity to gain further qualifications in the

• Fitness Instructing
Learners on the programme may also have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities residentials during the course, e.g. to the National Mountain Centre in Scotland for a varied programme of adventurous activities.
