Performing Arts - BTEC National Award
BTEC National Award in Production Arts (Theatre Technology) (Level 3)
(Subject to approval)
An opportunity for you to gain practical experience and develop the skills required to work in a variety of roles within the production arts environment.
You will study 5 BTEC units and gain the equivalent of 1 A-Level through a practical hands-on course where you will be given many opportunities to demonstrate the skills developed.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade C or above or BTEC First Diploma in a related subject, or GNVQ

Assessment
You will be continuously assessed throughout the duration of your course. You will be able to
identify, with guidance from your tutor, your own strengths and weaknesses and address
these appropriately. Assessment will take the format of portfolio based assessment with a
culmination of practical assessments, reports and evaluation.
Progression
Students who are successful on this course can choose to top up the National Award to a
National Certificate which is 1 year in duration. Following successful completion of the National
Certificate you then have the opportunity to progress to higher education at university, stage
schools or employment in the production arts industry.
BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) (Level 3)
(Year 1 National Award)
An opportunity for you to gain practical experience in the three disciplines of dance, drama and music which you will need to pursue a career in musical theatre. You will study 6 BTEC units and gain the equivalent of 1 A-Level through a practical hands-on course where you will be given many opportunities to perform in professional venues and gain vital and appropriate experience.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade C or above or BTEC First Diploma in a related subject, or GNVQ
Intermediate in a related subject
Length of course: 2 years

Assessment
We assess your performance continuously during rehearsals and productions and you will provide us with rehearsal diaries and evaluations you make of your performances. The aim is that together we can identify your strengths and help you build on them by gaining credit and evidence all the way.
Progression
Students who are successful on this course can progress to higher education at university, stage school or employment in the performing arts industry.
This course has an excellent track record for students progressing straight into top leading stage schools such as Arts Educational, Laine Theatre Arts, London Studio Centre and many more.
Past students are currently performing in Chicago, Billy Elliott and We Will Rock You. Students enjoy many educational and theatre trips, for example, to London’s West End and New York’s Broadway.
