BTEC Introductory Certificate in Performing Arts

This is a practical and lively course, geared to guide students through a level 1 Certificate in Performing Arts at their own pace with support.

Entry Requirements
Entry level 3 and/or commitment and enthusiasm for Performing Arts.

Length of course:
1 year with an optional extra year for the Introductory Diploma

Specialist Units
• Showing your work
• Individual Repertoire and Showcase
• Personal effectiveness

Key Skills
Numeracy, literacy and information technology are also incorporated into the programme.

Assessment
Evidence is gathered for portfolio, this is assessed by tutors. One unit is externally assessed. There are no examinations.

Progression
BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts (Level 2).

BTEC Introductory Diploma in Performing Arts

This course is an excellent introduction to working in the performing arts industry. From developing your performance skills in dance, music and drama to learning about the huge variety of opportunities in other areas of the industry, the course delivers a broad base of knowledge to help you begin to decide possible pathways for your future and develop your personal skills too.

Success on this course will gain you the equivalent of 4 GCSEs at grade D. This allows you to progress to a level two course (BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts is available at Stockton Riverside College). You would also have a decent grounding for finding employment.
