This course provides an introduction to beauty therapy whilst developing a basic understanding of health and safety skills, reception duties, facial and manicure treatments.

Entry Requirements
Grade E or above in Maths, English and successful interview.

Assessments
Assessments are continuous throughout the course together with assignments, tests and a portfolio of work is required.

Beauty Therapy kit, uniform and text book.

Key Skills
This is a compulsory part of the course.

Progression
Onto Level 2 Beauty depending on completion of Level 1 Beauty, attendance, attitude and results of key skills.

The course provides a hands on approach to Beauty Therapy, whilst developing an understanding of health and safety skills, reception duties, facials, manicure treatments, pedicures, waxing and eye treatments.

Grade D or above in Maths, English and IT and successful interview.

Length of course: 36 weeks

• Ensure your own actions reduce the risks to health and safety
• Fulfil salon reception duties
• Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
• Promote additional products or services
• Improve facial skin condition
• Remove hair using waxing techniques
• Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
• Provide manicure and pedicure treatments

Assessments are continuous throughout the course together with assignments, tests and a portfolio of work is required.

This is a compulsory part of the course.

Progression
L3 Beauty Therapy depending on completion of L2 Beauty Therapy attendance, attitude and key skills results.

In order to achieve a high level of competence in providing a wider range of beauty services, the programme of study has been broadened to achieve an all-round Beauty Therapist qualification with extra specialist skills.

• Artificial nail techniques
• Remove hair using electrical epilation
• Body massage

This is a compulsory part of the course.

Work Placement
Students will go on a placement at a local salon during the course.
