Foundation Diploma Hair & Beauty Studies Level 1

The Diploma for Hair and Beauty studies is an ideal course for students who wish to explore a variety of career pathways in the hair and beauty sector, which will give you the skills, knowledge and experience to make an informed career choice, and the chance to discover more about the type of job you are interested in.

What do I study on the course?
The Diploma qualification is made up of the following units:

Unit 1 – Introducing the Hair and Beauty Sector
Unit 2 – Creating a positive impression within the Hair and Beauty sector
Unit 3 – Introducing hair styling
Unit 4 – Introducing basic skin Care
Unit 5 – introducing basic hand and nail care treatments
Unit 6 – personal appearance, style and wellbeing within Hair and Beauty
Unit 7 – Careers within the Hair and Beauty sector and related industries

The key components that make up the Diploma are:

Principal Learning
Project
Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills
Functional Skills.
Additional and Specialist Learning

How is my work assessed?
Assessment can take many forms depending on your option choices. However, most evidence is gathered through a portfolio of written work, tutor observation and practical work.

What next?
You can progress onto a Higher Diploma Level 2 Hair and Beauty or specialise in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy other options are to enrol on a Part time courses gain an apprenticeship or employment.

Post 16: 4 GCSE Grade E or above including English and Maths
