Aviation Operations (Level 2)
Stockton Riverside College’s Aviation Academy offers a range of aviation industry speciality courses, ensuring your entry into aviation is matched to your individual expectations. Within level 2 you will develop your understanding of the range of aviation operations, airline and airport development and the different aspects of employment associated with the industry.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSE passes at grades D-E or Introductory Diploma (merit)
Length of Course: 1 year
You will study from the following units:
• Airport operations
• Health, safety and security in airports
• Passenger service
• Handling air passengers
• Ground handling services
• Landside and airside roles and responsibilities
Other information
You will participate in a range of visits including day trips and overseas visits, travelling within the UK, Europe and possibly as far as the USA.
You will visit a range of airlines and airports including speciality training.
BTEC National Award/Certificate Aviation Operations (Level 3)
Aviation is a dynamic and exciting industry that will challenge you and allow you to experience something new every day.
This course is designed to cover all aspects of the aviation industry. The course contains 6/12 units and will provide students, who have an interest in a role within the world of aviation, an in-depth knowledge of the industry.
It allows them to develop excellent skills such as customer service, marketing and handling air passengers.
The course is covered by tutors who have a wealth of industry experience which enables the students to not only gain classroom knowledge but also practical skills whilst taking part in educational visits and using college industry-specific resources.
You will have the opportunity to combine theory and practical with the use of our aircraft mockup and check-in area, which will enable you to enhance your skills.
Length of Course:
Award - 1 year
Certificate - 2 years
Entry Requirements
4 GCSE passes at A*-C including English and Maths, or BTEC First Diploma Level 2 - (Merit),
or mature students without formal qualifications will be assessed by interview.

• Marketing the aviation industry
• E-business for airlines
• Meeting customer needs
• Air travel information
• Aircraft operations
• Preparation for work in aviation
• Air cargo operations

• Human resources in the aviation industry
• Environmental impact of aviation
• Airport emergency operations
Progression
Employment within the industry, Foundation Degree at Stockton Riverside College or
University.
Other information

At each level of our aviation course you will have the opportunity to study from a range of our industry specific qualifications ranging from aviation first aid, airline baggage handling to airline related sign language.
