Art & Design (Entry Levels 2 & 3)
An introduction to Art & Design skills to prepare the learner to progress to a level 1 programme. The course will introduce you to a range of art and design activities as well as develop your skills in other areas which will support your progress and independence.
You will learn about different art and design areas ranging from painting, drawing, sculpture and product design to more media based skills which include storyboarding, writing scripts, videoing events and editing.
You will also develop your confidence and understanding of other subjects such as health and safety, interview techniques and a variety of skills which will develop all areas of your learning.
You will be given the opportunity to work towards higher level courses within Art and Design and the department has an excellent record of students' progression.
You will work in a friendly, creative and exciting environment and be taught by specialist tutors.
Entry Requirements
Relevant Art & Design skills plus an interview with portfolio of work.
Length of Course:
1 or 2 years depending on assessed level.

Assessment
Continuous assessment of your art work and portfolio work by your tutor on a regular basis
as well as regular tutorials and progress reviews.
Progression
Onto BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design.
Art & Design - Access to Higher Education (Level 3)
This is a one year course designed to help students with no formal qualifications or those who have been out of education for some time. On successful completion students can make direct entry to Higher Education.
Entry Requirements:
Students must be over 19 and will be interviewed on receipt of application where their artwork will be discussed. No formal qualifications required.
Length of Course: 2.5 days per week for 1 year
Core Units:
• Drawing & Painting
• 3D Studies
• Critical Studies
• Life drawing
Specialist Units:
• Working in sculpture, fashion, interior design, graphics, fine art, textiles etc.
Assessment:
Assessment is continuous throughout the year with a final exhibition of students' work.
There
are no examinations.
Progression:
BTEC Higher National Diploma, Degree or employment within the industry.
