Edexcel Entry level BTEC Award in IT Users (ITQ)

This qualification provides the opportunity to study:
• Desktop publishing
• Presentation software
• Digital software
• Databases
• Design and imaging software

Progression:
If you are successful at Entry level 3, you may progress to level 1 qualification in a range of vocational areas.
















Edexcel Level 1 BTEC Award, Certificate or Diploma in IT Users (ITQ)

This qualification gives learners a broad, relevant and vocationally-based introduction to the IT industry. Learners can build credits and progress through the Award, Certificate and Diploma programme.

Entry requirements:
Successful completion of Entry Level 3 or a number of GCSE examinations.

This qualification provides the opportunity to study a variety of units including:
• Using the Internet
• Using Email
• Spreadsheets
• Presentation Software
• Digital Lifestyle
• Desktop Publishing
• Database

Progression:
On successful completion of the Diploma level, you may progress to the BTEC First Diploma in IT, Business or other relevant programme.



BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners

This two year course aims to develop the knowledge and skills students need to be informed, effective and discerning ICT practitioners.

In year 2 you can choose one of two pathways: System Support or Software Development

Entry Requirements:
• 4 GCSE passes at grade C including Mathematics or English, or
• A Merit in a relevant Level 2 course, or
• A pass in relevant Level 2 course or GCSE Mathematics and English at grade C

You will learn how to:
• Carry out PC maintenance
• Install and configure software
• Present and communicate information
• Identify and resolve potential security risks
• Create digital graphics
• Create animations
• Create computer programmes
• Develop computer games

You will learn key aspects of the ICT practitioner role, including:
• Understanding what employers look for in IT staff
• Computer hardware and software
• Information systems
• System security
• Networks and communications
• Graphics and animation
• Programming

Progression:
On to Higher Education or employment
