Drama and Theatre Studies
If you have a keen interest in all aspects of the world of drama (performance, theory and texts) and a commitment to hard work, this subject could be right for you. You will study a range of different plays and practitioners as well as creating your own pieces of devised and pre-scripted drama.
Course content
AS: Unit one is a written paper in two parts:
Unit two is the practical presentation of an extract from a published play.
A2: Unit three is a written paper on two set texts, one pre-twentieth century play and one modern/contemporary play. Unit four is the practical performance of a devised piece of drama based on a theatrical style of your choice. Research of this style will be presented as part of the final mark in the form of a portfolio.
Trips and workshops
Throughout the year, various trips and workshops are organised that are essential to the course. Students have worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, west-end theatre directors and actors and professional practitioners.
