Health, Social Care and Early Years Level 3
If you are looking for a career in health, social care and early years and want to develop skills and understanding that are directly relevant, then this is the qualification for you. The course will develop the ability to work autonomously and effectively, and build your skills, knowledge and understanding to allow you to be able to specialise further in the field.
Course content
You will study the background to the care sector and provision for specific client groups, aspects of health and human development, equal opportunities and clients' rights, practical care skills, voluntary work and career progression. This is a full time course.
Throughout the two-year course there are several weeks of work experience. You will go on a one-week residential placement at a national voluntary organisation. You will also complete a 'People Handling- using hoists and slings' course, an introduction to sign language course, a deaf awareness introduction course and a first-aid course.
Entry requirements
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C including english and mathematics.
Method of assessment
There are no exams. Your tutor will assess your work for all units.
Progression
You can progress to college or university for further study or work-related and occupational qualifications in health, social care and early years. Many students who have successfully completed this course have gone on to university to train as nurses, midwives, social care workers and degrees in early childhood studies.

Two years: 18 units (Equivalent to three A Levels)
