IT Facilities
As you would expect in a new building the IT facilities are superb in every way, both in classrooms for lessons and in the Learning Resource Centre and Cyber Cafe. The whole building has state of the art IT equipment and facilities to help you in your studies.
All the PCs are networked and you will have your own space on the network in which to store your stuff. This is a secure area, which is backed up regularly and you will be responsible for your own password to ensure the security of your work.
All computers have access to the Internet to support your studies. The VLE, or Virtual Learning Environment, gives you access at college and at home to a wide range of college information and news as well as access to your course documents and learning materials. New information and documents are being added all the time.
The type of information and support you will find on the VLE will vary from course to course but will include access to course materials such as schemes of work, handouts, presentations and diagrams. You will have the facility to send a message to your subject teacher and to submit work electronically. You will also have access to the college services section where you will find a range of materials to help and support you - careers advice, information on Aim Higher, mentoring, IT services and the e-library. You will also be able to access the college bulletin. On the homepage you will see recent news articles and a calendar.
Media, Interactive Media and Film Studies students have access to an extensive suite of Apple Macs both desktop and Apple notebook computers using the highest specification professional software. You will be able to take home the applemac notebook computers to work on your projects.
