Music Technology (Sound Recording)
Introduction
Taught by a professional sound engineer, this course is for students interested in the recording and production of sound.
The course covers a wide range of genre and styles and aims not only to develop skills in using technical equipment but also to broaden students' appreciation of the process of recording and its application in music, game, film and television.
Course Content
Over two years this exciting course will cover many aspects of the recording and sound industry. You will examine traditional Sound Recording Techniques and how to record all manner of instruments and sounds, as well as improving your listening skills. You will be required to record musicians, bands and soloists for assessment and in doing so you will develop further your own skills as an Engineer and as a Producer.
Assessment
There are no exams. Your tutor will assess your work for all units.
Subject Entry Guidelines
GCSE Music and IT are helpful but not essential as is the ability to play any instrument.
Career Opportunities
This course offers a variety of experiences that will prepare you for a broad range of further training and employment. These can lead to careers including studio work, web/games music, composing, film scoring, arts and events management or teaching.
