BTEC First Diploma in Sport (Performance) (Level 2)
Introduction
This course focuses on developing your understanding of various aspects of sport, including fitness testing and training, sports coaching, organising events and your knowledge of the human body. You will take part in a varied programme of activities which may also include outdoor activities.
The programme is equivalent to four GCSEs grade A*-E and is studied full time.
Units
You will also develop your key skills in the areas of communication, application of number, information technology and improving own learning and performance.
You may also have the opportunity to study first aid, coaching awards or the Community Sports Leader Award. You may wish to participate in recreational or competitive sport as part of the college's enrichment programme.
Learners on the programme may also have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities residentials during the course, e.g. the Mountain Centre in Scotland for a varied programme of adventurous activities.
Entry Requirements
4 D grades at GCSE or an appropriate Level 1 qualification. An interest in sport and exercise is essential.
Progression
On completion of this course you will be able to progress to further education on a level 3 programme or enter the Leisure and Sport industry.
